Our FAQs

General:
What is Karaoke Box?
We’re the UK’s first ever karaoke box venue — singing since 1997. Private rooms behind a series of unmarked doors: no stage, no audience, no pressure. Just you, your people and 40,000+ songs, from the biggest hits to the deepest cuts.
Where are your venues?
Two spots in central London. Soho — 18 Frith St, W1D 4RF, right next door to Ronnie Scott’s (nearest tubes Leicester Square & Piccadilly Circus). Mayfair — Basement Level, 14 Maddox St, W1S 1PQ, directly opposite Maddox Gallery (nearest tube Oxford Circus).
When are you open?
Seven days a week, right through to the early hours — you’ll find each venue’s full hours at the bottom of this page. The only days we close are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Hours can shift a little over Christmas and New Year, so do check when you book.
Do you take walk-ins?
Absolutely — if a room’s free, we’d love to have you. Pop in, or give reception a quick call and we’ll do our best to fit you in: Soho 020 3943 3700, Mayfair 020 3831 6656.
Can under-18s visit?
In the daytime, yes — but under-18s need to head off by 6pm, and it’s over-18s only after that. Do let the venue know in advance if anyone under 18 is coming. Bring valid ID either way; our security check IDs and bags on the way in.
About booking:
How far in advance can I book?
You can book online up to three months ahead. Planning something further out? Give the venue a call and our team will sort it for you: Soho 020 3943 3700, Mayfair 020 3831 6656. Whenever you book, sooner is safer — the bigger rooms tend to go first.
When do I pay?
Up front, in full — that’s what secures your room. We don’t hold rooms on a deposit, so once you’ve paid, it’s yours. Private events and full venue hire work a little differently: a 50% deposit confirms the date, with the balance due 7 days before.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Life happens. With 72 hours’ notice or more you can either take a refund minus a 10% admin fee, or move the booking once with no fee at all. Inside 72 hours it’s non-refundable, and same-day bookings and walk-ins can’t be refunded or transferred once they’re confirmed. A moved booking needs to land within three months. Our Festive Period — 20 November to 23 December — is paid up front and non-refundable, but you can still move it once with 72 hours’ notice.
My booking runs past midnight — which date do I pick?
Our nights run late, so the date doesn’t flip at midnight — book the night you’re heading out. Coming in at 1am on Saturday morning? That’s still the Friday booking. Closing times vary between our venues, so check the hours for the one you’re booking — every session has to finish within them.
Can I request songs for my visit?
Oh yes. Send your tracks over at least 24 hours before you arrive and we’ll have them cued up and ready — add them at the jukebox step when you book, or drop us an email. Every room runs two mics, so there’s always room for a duet.
About events:
Can I hire the whole venue?
You can take the whole place over — full venue hire is available at both. Birthdays, work dos, hens and stags: our rooms are built for a celebration. A 50% deposit confirms the date, with the balance due 7 days before. Email your venue and we’ll make it happen — soho@karaokebox.co.uk or mayfair@karaokebox.co.uk.
Do you run events and themed playlists?
Always something on. Alongside our events we curate fresh themed playlists and collections every month, from deep cuts to full-blown nostalgia. Have a look at our What’s On page to see what’s coming up.
Terms & conditions:
Can we bring our own food or drinks?
Leave the picnic at home — no outside food or drink, sorry — but birthday cakes are very welcome. A candle or two is fine; sparklers, indoor fireworks, confetti and glitter aren’t. Both venues do hot food, cocktails and bottles straight to your room, with a 12.5% discretionary service charge on food and drink.
What happens if we’re late?
Try to arrive 10–15 minutes early so you can check in at reception, and allow 5–10 minutes between back-to-back sessions while we clean and set the room up. A late arrival means lost time — the session still finishes when booked — and if no one’s turned up within 30 minutes we may release the room. Running behind? Tell us as soon as you can and we’ll do our best to make the time up. Last entry is normally about an hour before we close.
Can we split the bill?
No problem — room charges and the tab can be split across up to four cards.
Where can I read the full terms?
Want the fine print? It’s all on our Terms & conditions page — booking terms, privacy, members and cookie policies.
